River Ithon, Disserth Beat.

October 22nd 2007

After the recent sunshine, it was a small disappointment to see grey skies. However the Ithon was clear and low. This was great news as the river can rise and colour quickly.

The Disserth beat is long and beautiful, so if you plan to fish it, give yourself plenty of time. There are trout and grayling to be found throughout the length of the beat. At the bottom end the trout are often a delightful silvery colour, whilst elsewhere I've found the fish have a more normal golden-brown complexion.

The autumn colours enriched the whole experience of being on the river. Add to that a Red Kite, Buzzards and Dippers and it couldn't fail to be a great day. And the fishing? Trout and grayling were taken , enough to satisfy anyone, including the fine lady of the stream shown opposite.
